James at work

James was born and brought up in Stocksbridge and carried out undergraduate and diploma studies at Sheffield University.

He has been working with RAA since working as a summer student , in 2002. Un-daunted, he came back for more in 2003 when he joined us on a permanent basis.

Since then, he has developed his interest in sustainable design to take a leading role in the practice in this area. He has designed a number of highly sustainable private houses and home projects and is also an accredited assessor for the Code for Sustainable Homes.

In 2013 he finished his own self build project - a low environmental impact house on a steeply sloping site in southern Sheffield.

James has published in a variety of periodicals in relation to sustainable building and has taught at Sheffield University School of Architecture.
